The 4 Acts known as the "Alien and Sedition Acts"
The Naturalization Act: Increased residency requirements for citizenship from 5 years to 14 years
The Alien Friends Act: Allowed the president to imprison or deport aliens considered "dangerous to the peace and safety of the United States" at any time
Alien Enemies Act: authorized the president to do the same to any male citizen of a hostile nation, above the age of 14, during times of war
Sedition Act: Restricted speech which was critical of the federal government.
The Country was just 8 years old. The Federalists in 8 years with the help of the treasonous President John Adams and the 5th Congress, managed to impose the same kind of restrictions on the people they had shed so much blood and treasure to rid themselves of during the Revolutionary war.

Passed during the first world war during what is commonly known as the first red scare.
